Welcome to the Kids Discover Blog. A place where Kindermusik students and families can read about lessons, what is going on and child development.

I am hoping to hold special events this year in the way of webinars for parents to learn more about child development. Very exciting… but more about that later.

This year is nearly over and I can’t believe where the time has gone. 2011 was a wonderful year for Kindermusik with children growing rapidly and gaining skills, building brain connections, learning how top crawl, run and hop. Many learned to relax during quiet time, and many of our Our Time students learned to “stop” on cue, gaining more control over their bodies.

We now gear up for the new year and prepare for another year of fun filled, educational music sessions.

I hope that this will be a place where you can gain information, comment and interact together and keep up top date.

It never ceases to amaze me just how much babies take in.  One of the biggest questions I get asked is “Do babies get anything out of music sessions?”  I guess we just have to look at where they have come from.  In utero, they have been lulled by their Mother’s heartbeat, the lilt of language, hearing a variety of sounds.  Rhythm has been a big part of their lives up until the birth and doesn’t stop just because they are now born.

Babies absorb like sponges and I get to see the results when they are 18 months and have more control over their bodies than other children, they are almost 3 years and are starting to hop, roll and use their bodies in exploratory ways that other children don’t.  At 6, they are creative, love learning and pick up reading and maths easily.

In class, it is easy to see the babies that started young.  Parents often comment on things they do and hear the reply “Oh, they have been coming since they were 2 months old”.

It is also wonderful for premi babies as we can expose them to experiences they missed out on in the womb due to their early arrival, rather than waiting for problems to arise when they start school and begin the reading process.

I love that Kindermusik provides children and families with bonding opportunities, a place where they not only bond with their child but create lifelong friends and build relationships and support networks.

I look forward to working with you and your child!
